It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
