Much like Storm Claudia tore through the northern region the previous evening, Manchester City swept United away at the their home ground. It was a convincing three-nil triumph for their manager's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that truly announced their championship potential as they strengthened their position at the league summit.

Consecutive Setbacks for Manchester United

This result marked consecutive WSL defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since last May, placing them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

United’s capacity to manage league and European football with a limited squad has been a frequently analyzed issue since they qualified for the European competition.
